I had two RC cars. The Traxxas TRX-1 and the Traxxas Nitro Hawk. The TRX-1 was fun to build. It's was like one big Lego. Electric RC's were always reliable and cheaper to run. The Nitrohawk was soooo finicky. I had just bought new plugs, the starter, and glow starter that day. I ended throwing the glow plug starter across the street. I won't live that story down. The TRX-12 engine was a piece of junk. That engine alone killed my desire for RC cars. Not to mention those little toys aren't cheap.
